Anita Granger was born in Toronto and grew up in the small town of Maple just north of the city. She holds a B.F.A. Spec. Hons. from York University with a double specialization in Visual Art and Graphic Design. Anita embarked on a twenty-year career working extensively in design. After her initial start as a graphic designer with OWL & Chickadee Magazines, she transitioned into architectural and interior design and spent over 15 years as a project manager, designer and associate with CS&P Architects in Toronto. Approximately ten years ago she returned to her roots in painting and sculpture. In 2018 she completed her Certificate in Botanical Illustration (with Distinction) at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, UK. Anita has exhibited in multiple group exhibitions throughout Ontario. She currently resides in Fergus, ON. “I have a fundamental interest in plant and animal life, drawing much of my influence from nature. I tend to look within nature to find refuge, rather than seek shelter from it. My work channels the consideration of this relationship, in particular the need to find protection and a sense of connection."
