I have a fundamental interest in plant and animal life, drawing much of my influence from nature. As I look within nature to find refuge, my work channels the consideration of this relationship. Our natural world has been intrinsically and irrevocably changed by human intervention. I wish to embrace the fragility of our natural environment, at the same time conveying its dynamic attributes and ambiance. Inspiration often starts with colour. As I explore themes of nature and memory that persist in my thoughts, my approach is to reassemble them in a collage-like but painterly approach. |
